Colorado Springs Co-working for Freelancers

Freelancers Unite!

The Enclave Logo - Colorado Springs

There is a great space in Colorado Springs where freelancers of all types work together. They don't just exist in the same space, but actually work together. Collaboration is a mighty tool in the hands of specifically qualified and open-minded freelance types. It allows them to hash out ideas, innovate new products and connect with someone other than their cat in the basement of their homes.

I give you: The Enclave - A Co-working space for Creative Professionals.

I snuck into the Enclave early so I could snap a few pictures of the freelance habitat before too many people came in.

The Red Room at the EnclaveDecorated in contemporary tones, this workspace is cozy with a touch of wow. The "red room", as Enclavers like to call it, is the first thing you see as you walk in. The art is cool on the walls and there are desks arranged throughout. Some full-timers like to pay for a dedicated space and others pay a monthly rate and are seated on a first-come-first-served basis.

There is music playing over the speakers in the space, right now it is a band called Acceptance and I think I heard Johnny Cash before that.

The Red Room has a whiteboard a small fridge and pair of waffle irons for the weekly Waffle Wednesday festivity (open to the public!)

Currently I am parked at one of the tables. They don't turn on the overhead fluorescent lighting and instead opt for cool paper lamps and a very contemporary multi branch floor style light that hovers over the head of the proprietor's desk.

The LibraryRyan Cross started this space with the dream that Colorado Springs' creative pros could commune in a space that required no purchases of coffee or miscellaneous pastries; the typical "office" at the coffee shop is a thing of the past. Those who have left the Starbucks office behind look back without love lost. (follow him as @slant on Twitter)

Members

There are a few members of the Enclave that have been here since inception and even before when it was just a meetup group.

Here you will find iOS developers, Graphics and Web Designers, Rails nerds and UX professional consultants. Questions about various skillsets fly around the office as the Enclavers help each other. There is also a library of books set out and used by the group that range from comic compilations to iPhone programmer guides. Collaboration in its purest.

If you find yourself in Colorado Springs and looking for a place to office that has space, wifi, coffee and great folks to collaborate with, you need to stop in and help the space grow.

I think I have found my place. Check for daily, weekly and monthly plans.
